With an 8" head stretched across a solid brass tone ring, the BG-MINI puts out a satisfactory tone and volume, with a scale length of 19-3/4 inches that tunes up to the key of C with standard gauge strings. When played in its open position (no capo), it feels and sounds as if a capo is used at the fifth fret of a full-size banjo.

If you need to tune to standard G when playing with others, the string gauges can be changed to the following: .016, .034, .024, .019, .016. This makes the BG-MINI perfect for young players, with a maple neck, rolled brass tone ring, 10" mahogany resonator, and 8" maple rim.
