At the 2004 IBMA show, Bob Carline and Wayne met to discuss the possibilities of a signature model 12" open-back banjo. Bob personally made a trip to the Florida factory for the designing, where he and Wayne discussed every possible specification and tested prototypes. Every detail was fine-tuned, and the decided features included a 12" Renaissance banjo head, the MOCK dowel stick/coordinator rod configuration, a custom headstock design with ebony overlay and recessed truss rod cover, the GT master Planetary tuners, and the "Hot Dog" armrest.

To complete the project, Gold Tone would invest in all new 12" tooling to assure perfectly fitted parts. A year later, they introduced the Gold Tone Bob Carline signature model BC-350. Bob Carline is most well-known in the banjo world for his incredible tone, and the Gold Tone BC series featuring the 12" body provides him with more mid-range and bass response than the standard 11" designs.

The features requested by Bob included a 12" pot assembly, a scooped ebony fingerboard, specific neck profile dimensions and a nut width of 1-5/16", a rolled brass tone ring, and a no-knot tailpiece. In order to ensure the perfect fit, every detail was meticulously fine-tuned during the design process. The result is an instrument that caters to Bob Carline's musical preferences and delivers a unique and exceptional sound.

Whether you're new to open-back banjo or want to add a new sound to your banjo arsenal, the BC-350 is an excellent choice. With its 12" pot, fingerboard scoop, rolled brass tone ring, Planetary tuners, and natural blonde gloss finish, this signature model offers a premium playing experience and a versatile tonal range. The Gold Tone BC-350 is a testament to the collaboration between Bob Carline and the Gold Tone team, and it is sure to inspire and delight banjo enthusiasts of all skill levels.
